I believe students should be treated with respect - just like real people! I believe all students can succeed when given a solid foundation of information and guidance and encouragement. I feel the most damaging thing a teacher can do to a student is to make them feel inferior or "stupid", so I correct gently and offer clear criticism and help the student backtrack to see where they need help understanding or practicing something. In 2006 I was at my final step of reaching my BA in Secondary Education with an emphasis in English with only having left to complete my student teaching, but was taken by another opportunity. I moved to Japan and teach ESL and ESOL for almost 3 complete years. I taught from all ages two to adults, and learned many new skills, instruction and classroom management techniques, a new language and different ways to engage students in lessons.
