My comments on tutoring English ESOL : Minor in teaching English as a second language. Experience with working with students in Thailand.

I can teach in any style that suits the student. I am flexible with whatever excels the students learning the most.
I have taught a large array of children and adults, anywhere from a 2nd grader struggling with reading to adult Burmese refugees. I have the patience and flexibility to successfully work with anyone. I started tutoring when I was around the age of 13. I taught a young Korean girl English, where I would have to create my own lesson plans. While I attended Okemos high school, I partook in volunteering experiences that dealt with tutoring. For two years, I was placed at an elementary school where I would tutor 1st-5th graders biweekly with anything from basic math to practice with reading. I taught for 32.5 years at Northwest Community Schools. Subjects taught Fourth Grade, Fifth Grade, Sixth Grade all subjects. Seventh Grade and Eighth Grade Science and Social Studies. Middle School Phys. Ed. 20 years Adult Ecucation. Subjects taught, American Government, U. S. History, Health Issues. I currently hold a Continuing Certificate from Mich. granted in 1978, and a Professional Certificate from Florida. I retired from Michigan Public Schools in 2006 with a pension, which includes health insurance. I then relocated in Phoenix, Arizona where I taught Fourth Grade for two years. I then moved back to Michigan where I was a substitute teacher last year. In August of this year my son and I permantly relocated to Florida.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a German major, I know what is involved in learning a foreign language. I taught German for two years to 1st-3rd graders, taught English language and American culture to 14-19 year old students in Austria, and have some experience teaching English to middle school students. Most of my experience teaching English comes from 8 months of planning lessons and teaching English to Austrians. I have lived in both Germany and Austria, and have studied German for 9 years. I am comfortable and confident in my skills teaching ESL and German, at any level.
I have worked with students of all ages. I try to vary the type of activities used to learn, from conversation, to repetition, to interactive games.
