A Little Bit About Me...

As an engineering technician, I recognized that in order to advance my career I would need to possess at least a Bachelor’s degree. To achieve this, I began attending college while working full-time. Over the course of 11 years, I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from New York Institute of Technology and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Polytechnic University. I have tutored several people in algebra with great success and I have taught the members of the repair and production departments at my former employer to handle computer-related problems and questions.

I have three sons and have coached students in various sporting activities so I'm no stranger with working with kids. As I stated above though I don't have any professional experience and therefore it would be difficult to describe a teaching style. Given the opportunity though I will try to assist my students in learning by trying to identify and understand the child’s needs and by relating the subject material to practical applications. A method that I’ve always found more effective than just learning for learning sake.

My teaching style is a combination of serious, in-depth theory and practical examples to demonstrate such theories, all with a hint of humor, followed by significant practice of the newly learned skills. I've been "teaching" people all of my business career. I always start with the underlying theory and immediately segue into a practical example of how the principles work. As an engineering student I am naturally good with math and science. I love to do research which provided me the opportunity to publish several international research papers. So, I have a very good foundation in math. This inclined me to teach kids because I love to convey my knowledge. I can handle any sort of math courses of school going kids.
I prefer to know the student before the tutoring session. I ask them about their school, hobby and the problem they face while confronting a particular subject.
