Elementary Phonics is one of my top subjects! I have taught reading skills for 25 years. I am certified in the WILSON Reading System. This is a very structured program utilizing a multi sensory approach. It teaches the basic sound symbol relationships through the manipulation of cards, fingers and tiles. Additionally it incorporates writing skills and comprehension. I received my bachelor degree in elementary education. After having my two daughters, I went to graduate school and achieved a masters degree as a Reading Specialist. I was a graduate assistant and taught in a learning center for two years while earning my masters degree. Upon graduation I was an adjunct professor at C.W. Post, taught reading at a private school, a public school and then worked full time managing the reading department In an elementary school for eighteen years. During that time I had the opportunity to teach a support before school program, summer literacy as the lead teacher, creating my curriculum and a Saturday Academy in the middle school teaching study skills and test prep.
