More About This Tutor...

I'm a rising senior in high school who has been tutoring peers/coaching the math team at my high school for three years. Both my PSAT and SAT scores are in the 99+ percentile and include perfect scores of 800 in both the Mathematics and Writing Sections of the SAT. I also received a score of 800 in SAT Math Level 2. I have thoroughly studied the SAT/PSAT and can pinpoint exactly what the tests are asking for and how to raise your scores. I firmly believe anyone can raise his or her scores drastically with the proper techniques and guidance, as I have helped several people do so and have done so myself. I am also willing to tutor anyone who is interested in the following subject areas: Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Statistics, Pre-Calc, and Calculus (up to the AP calc BC level or calc 2). $20/hr. Learn from the basics

I have taught several students in India, and I am quite properly understand the knowledge and the background required to teach subjects. I was myself a college topper and a school gold medalist. Hence I can teach and inculcate the knowledge of teaching in students. Learning maths and science is something very elementary if understood from the basics and in-depth. Thus it is very important that a student should learn, read and write all in-depth. This learning curve is something that I have tried to develop in myself from years to come and hope to imbibe the knowledge of it in several other students. I had got 167/170 in my GRE thus the basics of my maths is quite strong. I have even taught several students in India about how to crack this exam and helped several for cracking this exam too. I hope to help many more of the students.

I love being able to give other students the passion that I have for learning and understanding something new. During my undergraduate work in psychology and training to be a tutor, I learned the different types of learning styles and how to test for them. I use this technique with every student I work with, so that I can teach to their form of learning. I believe that children learn best through practical application and hands on activities that help them better understand what we discuss and work on. All children are capable of learning and excelling, once they understand how they learn best. I strive to instill in every child a feeling of pride and self-esteem in their studies.
From a young age, I greatly enjoyed school and excelling in all that I put my mind to. To this end, I have earned a BS in Psychology and a minor in biology, both with Honors, and am applying to cont ... read more

As an Honors Graduate in Mathematics and Physics, and as an Olympic Gold Medalist team member in Mathematics, Ukraine 1984, I have been educated at the highest levels in Mathematics and Physics. Such training has prepared me to teach the highest levels of Mathematics. My detailed understanding of all aspects of advanced mathematics gives me a special insight of the learning levels each student must possess and demonstrate. Understanding the learning deficiencies of students allows me to direct my tutoring efforts to specifically identify weakness and strengths of students. Once identified, I then explain and teach the mathematic laws, rules, concepts and theories to allow the student to see their mistakes, weakness and then grow in their strengths and understanding of the math subject. I am very successful in tutoring students. Results in students testing levels show 20-30 point improvem ... read more

I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Arts at Christopher Newport University and my Master of Arts degree in Teaching and Learning (in the art classroom) from Nova Southeastern University. I love teaching art to all age levels. I really enjoy it when I show someone an art technique, they learn it, and make it their own. When teaching art, I feel it very important to demonstrate a technique, discuss how the technique has been used in different cultures, and then for the student to mimic my actions. Once the technique has been mastered, the student can take ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

For the past two years I have worked for the City of Gainesville as a Recreation Aide I. The primary function of this position was to run an After School program for elementary students at one of the City's recreation centers. A central element to the program was tutoring services for the children conducted by the staff and university volunteers. Not only did I serve as a tutor, but I also helped formulate guidelines for the volunteer tutors and educational programming for the group as a whole.
I believe that my teaching style can be described as a patient mentor that is eager to share knowledge and provide a broad understanding of the importance of the material at hand. I am open to all different kinds of learning and enjoy working with different types of personalities. I am consciously aware that children are the future and hope to influence them in positive ways. One of my favorite past-times is teaching and mentoring. I have helped my youger siblings and cousins broaden their skills in sciences and math. I strive to bring out the best in people when I teach them by using everyday activities and examples that they can easily relate to. I find all children are capable when the right methods and approaches are used in teaching them. Giving them homework and assignments to do on their own after classes helps them to assimilate what they have been taught.
In my first semester of graduate school, I was a teaching assistant in a 3000-level course with about 20 students. I found the class very exciting as the students where very diligent and always did their pre-lab before each class, making the class easier for them to understand. I have tutored privately at various times helping high school students prepare for SAT and GRE math sections, having ... read more
