I want to help your child achieve success!

I've been tutoring elementary school students for about 4 years. I've been able to help students raise their grades and become more successful in school. I have great study tips and I can help with test preparation. I'm excellent at math and can help students learn without a calculator. I'm also excellent in English, as that is what I want to major in. I want to be able to help students achieve success with my help. I'm great at helping with homework students may have or just help on writing an essay.
I'm very hands on, I like to participate with the student vs making them do it all by themselves.

I have aided many of my friends throughout high school and college with writing, editing and general English knowledge. In addition to helping many of my friends and classmates I also edited countless pages of my own work in a great variety of subjects. I graduated Cum Laude with a degree in English after taking courses in various fields on the subject. I received high marks in class ranging from general rhetoric to creative writing, as well analytical literature courses.
I attempt to not only show students when a mistake has been made but teach them how to better avoid those mistakes in the future, as well as teaching them to better catch their own mistakes.

I earned my A.A. in Theatre Arts at College of Central Florida in Ocala, Florida. I then moved to Lakeland and earned my B.A. in Theatre Performance at Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida. Last summer I was an assistant teacher for the summer camp at the Civic Theatre in Ocala, Florida.
I teach the basic concepts of acting through Stanislavski and Chekhov. I focus on character development as well as scene analysis. When analyzing a play or story, I focus on the basic concepts such as inciting incidents, major dramatic question, climax, the point of attack, resolution, the theme, and characters. Learning comes with a pinch of confidence & creativity. :)

I have tutored for Acers tutoring in Orlando for a full year. I have full experience with teaching reading and writing, as well as somer lower level algebra and mathematic skills. The kids have ranged from ages 8-14. As well, I have been giving guitar lessons to kids between the ages of 10-14. The children have all been able to pick up quickly, and being a song writer, I encourage the kids to seek full creativity in their music and learning. In college, I've spent my time volunteering with the youth group, and helping mentor kids in the middle school age. Also, I am a double major, and have majored in Education, which has allowed me to work with JEA and create lesson plans and teach a class of seventh graders.
I implement creativity, and ample amount of positive, fun energy into the way I teach. I believe the key to any child's learning is first instilling confidence into them. W ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style would be best described as creative and improvisational. Because I work with students from such varied backgrounds, I believe that the best method is one that allows for flexibility and at the same time incorporates lessons from several fields at once. For example, in both my GED and ESOL courses I incorporate music into my lesson plans. I find that music is an excellent avenue to explore contemporary topics that can then lead to essay topics. At the same time, song lyrics are poetry and can be studied as such.

Helping people to better understand the discipline of English and Literature is one of my greatest pleasures.

I have always had an inclination to teach. To me, there is something very exciting about conveying understanding of a concept to another person. I think I have a particular ability for identifying precisely what aspect of a problem a student does not understand and then elucidating that point. I think much instructional time is spent inefficiently in explaining what a student already understands and not explaining what he or she does not understand. This is why I believe engaging the student in a conversation is vital, helping them identify their difficulties so that I can address them specifically.
I have always been an avid reader and writer, as well as a natural teacher. As early as middle school, I was tutoring my fellow classmates at the request of their parents. If there is anything I believe about teaching, in any form, it's that you need to be passionate about what you are teaching, yourself, before you can translate that to others seeking knowledge. I am incredibly passionate about English, and endeavor to transmit that to any pupil; furthermore, I am very understanding, patient, and sympathetic when it comes to a teaching style, but know how to motivate students to want to learn themselves. I do not teach merely to help students improve their grades, but look instead to further their understanding and develop their interests in subjects they feel uncomfortable with.

A Little Bit About Me...

I really enjoy working with youth and helping them learn. I have faith that all children can flourish given the proper chances. I believe in making learning enjoyable, which is why my teaching style is based on mutual respect. I am patient, laid back, and I employ a rewards-based learning system. I’ve found that it is most helpful to relate subject material to the child’s interests, and so I do that often. I am always available to help, even through phone and email. I strive to make a positive difference in the world, and once I am committed to something, I give myself wholeheartedly.
