Government is one of my top subjects!

I prefer to use current real world content as a way to demonstrate historical ideas in an easier context to understand. I believe that students benefit more from this type of instruction because it can put difficult concepts in a way that is easier to relate to.
I recently graduated from the University of North Dakota with a Bachelor's of Science in Secondary Education. I have taught English literature as a substitute in junior and senior high schools, college level German, linguistics, English reading and writing and English as a Second language. I have taught and tutored children and adult learners. My teaching experience has been in Germany, California and Minnesota. I also tutored ACT/SAT in Minnesota.
I enjoy teaching students of all ages, individually or in groups. I find the Socratic method most useful, and with children this translates into making the subject (i.e. German grammar) seem like a puzzle that, with some effort, can be solved. I have done a lot of teaching and tutoring, both with adults and young people. Most of my experience, though, comes from working with high school and junior high school students. I spent the majority of that time as a tutor/ mentor and would work with the students one on one or in small groups, both in the library or in the classroom. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that people learn in different fashions.
