I often use word games or riddles as rewards for good work. It motivates effort from my students and makes them listen more closely. With my esl students, I made sure to apply new words to their life in order to gain the most retention of the new vocabulary words. Through my years of experience, I've found that it is most effective to make sure the students are really thinking. When they get stuck, I ask them questions to point them in the right direction, but I almost never give them the answer unless a lot of time would be wasted otherwise. I'm also very good at catching mistakes, but instead of pointing them out right away, I usually also ask them leading questions to help them find the mistake on their own.

I am currently a senior at Urbana University and will be graduating in may of 2013. Along side of being a full time student of mathematics I also play varsity baseball at the university and have received the scholar athlete award several times in my four years. My comments on tutoring Algebra II : Excellent.

Style is one-on-one. The tutoring is flexible to accommodate different people's styles. However, tutoring is what one makes of it.
I work in the compliance/legal field in banking with over 15 years of experience with an educational foundation of a B.A. in Economics and a J.D. (i.e., law degree). I'm multi-lingual with fluency in Spanish, German and Polish.
