I believe in a pretty simple rule; repeat, repeat, repeat. Learning math and physics through example is the best way. Repeating these examples is a sure way to success. They student may not like math or physics, but once they start to do well in it they'll come to love it.
During my studies at SUNY Buffalo I tutored in Regents Math which I also took when I was in high school. In Virginia Tech I was a Graduate Research Assistant. I ran Aerospace Engineering labs, assigning work to undergraduate students which I graded. I was available for multiple hours per week assisting students in their homework and lab reports. When it comes to teaching or tutoring, I find that it is necessary to craft a pedagogical style that will match the learning style of your student. Each student learns in a different way, whether visually, aurally, kinesthetically, subconsciously, or simply by rote. I find that it is necessary to try each option with all students. I feel that the trouble that many students may have is that they operate differently from the rest of their peers and simply need a different approach to learning material. I find that making the material more interesting is of vast importance as well, and I make learning and retention of information a high priority.

I had a scientific book in Barnes and Noble, ample graduate-level coursework in Education, experience as a High School teacher, and lived abroad. I have a B.S. in plant biotech from Cornell.
I enjoy earnest and humble students, learning with and from them. I feel uncomfortable not learning laterally as well as vertically, seeing that to be knowledgeable, one must not just memorize but ruminate on what was memorized, making as many lateral connections as expedient.
