SUCCESS, RIGHT AT YOUR DOORSTEP!

I have been an educator for almost 20 years. I began my teaching career as a substitute teacher and immediately fell in love with teaching children with special needs. Desiring to continue to teach, I finished a Master's degree which gave me the endorsements to teach K-12 children with special needs. Since then, I have taught reading and mathematics to both children with special needs and regular education children at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. As I gained a greater thirst to do more to help children, outside of teaching in the public school setting, I bagan tutoring. Between teacing within the public school and tutoring outside of the public school setting, I gained a great deal of experience when it comes to identifying strategies that cause children to learn and retain what they have learned. After all was said and done, I finally capped my educational aspir ... read more

My comments on tutoring PSAT : 15 years of teaching and tutoring individual and groups

15 Years as High School Math teacher and 15 years as College Instructor. ! Math is one of my top subjects! Teaching is an Art, not any person can be a good teacher. I love teaching and I consider myself as a gifted Math teacher. Because I love teaching, I was a high school AP/BC Math teacher when I was 19 years old. I succeed through many years of teaching experience to create a nice and helpful short cut which really assists students not just understanding, but to help solving the problem in a short period of time. I usually do 2 hours/session (one hour is free if HS student), this allow students/parents to see my teaching style and decide

My comments on tutoring PSAT : I love working with students are forward-thinking enough to study for the PSAT.

I have worked in educational access for over twenty years, and I have a particular passion for showing students ways to simplify difficult processes. My professional highlights include: • Providing individual tutoring for students preparing for the SAT and ACT • Mentoring and motivating students to stay engaged and up to date • Working with parents, schools and organizations to assist students with transition to higher education • Developing curriculum for reading, math, and GED preparation classes
I consider myself to be a "test-prep coach." I help students find solutions on their own before I teach them how to do it.

PSAT is one of my top subjects!

I usually start with a diagnostic test to concentrate on weaker areas then come up with a weekly plan focusing on those areas. After a lesson, I usually give worksheets and sometimes online exercises, depending on the subject, and use videos and games if applicable.
I have tutored and mentored students for more than five years in Algebra I & II, Trigonometry, Physics, Chemistry, English and ESL. I have a degree in Psychology and a certificate in TEFL. I believe tutoring is a really helpful and useful addition to class and studying by oneself because it is reviewing class material once again and it is a way for students to be accountable to yet another person who knows the answers to their questions and can help them work to that answer as well.

A Little Bit About Me...

My focus in tutoring is on the student. I adapt myself to the learning styles of the student(s), building on their skills and talents. I recognize that some students retain information best by teaching to others what they learn immediately. So I avail them of that opportunity by encouraging them to actively be involved in making up notes, choosing homework questions and rephrasing content based on their understanding. To me, each tutoring session is about embracing my personal responsibility of helping a student take significant progressive steps toward his/her academic goals.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Marymount University. My cumulative GPA is 3.91/4.0, science and Math GPA 3.93/4.0. A Little Bit About Me...

As a coach, I pay close attention to pedagogy as well as to the needs and learning styles of my students. With a very interdisciplinary background education in materials science and engineering physics, I bring rich applications to the classroom and thereby place the teaching of mathematics and physics into context for my students. I integrate technology into students’ learning experiences - using PowerPoint presentations and/or handouts from my lecture notes and outlines, requiring students to fill in some intentional blanks during class or their private study thereby keeping them engaged on the content. I ask appropriate leading and probing questions to explore the student’s lower and higher order thinking skills – cf. Bloom’s taxonomy.
A multi-lingual professional educator and research scientist with 20+ years of experience, I majored in engineering/energy physics and material ... read more

I have an undergraduate degree in Economics, a graduate degree in marketing and supplemented the graduate degree with a program in the School of Education. I have over 15 years experience working with children ages 8 to 18 and have classroom experience in grades 6-9 with a specific focus on 7th and 8th Grade Algebra. I have tutored in math for over 3 years and have coached youth sports for over 15 years.
I do not believe in coming into any tutoring or teaching assignment with any set plan. All children learn differently and combining the level of my knowledge and area of expertise as well as energy level, optimism and ability to relate to children; I have found profound success if helping children build their confidence in math, Algebra, and other areas of life.

A Little Bit About Me...

My greatest strength as a tutor is that I know what it is like to have no knowledge of a foreign language. Thus, I am able to diagnose the particular difficulties a student is having and provide appropriate guidance in resolving those difficulties. I believe in repetition and drills, both written and spoken. In addition, I also believe in using the target language as much as possible. I will encourage students to use what knowledge they have of the target language in order to communicate with me. I used to be afraid to speak foreign languages, but several of my teachers were able to create a comfortable enough environment such that I was no longer afraid. I hope to do the same.
