Professional Biology Tutor/Teacher

My teaching philosophy has developed based, in part, on my experiences as an undergraduate Biology student. I routinely incorporate current scientific topics in my lectures. For example, I discuss the scientific and ethical dilemmas of stem cell research when I lecture about the development of different types of blood cells. I sometimes have students study figures and graphs and analyze what is happening in them. Essay questions are a great way to encourage students to enhance communication skills. I prefer to allow the student to attempt to find answers on their own first, and only supply help when a student is clearly struggling to find the answer. I work through each lesson or homework assignment step-by-step with the student, making sure they understand each part before moving on.
