I use American Sign Language dictionaries and the internet while also showing the student how to use American Sign Language myself.
I have been teaching myself American Sign Language for a little over 2 years. I am fluent, and willing to teach anyone who wants to learn. I don't know anyone who is deaf. I became interested in American Sign Language while watching a TV show on ABC Family called Switched At Birth. The show encouraged me to learn, and I hope I can encourage someone else to learn as well. I don't charge much because I don't have a lot of experience with teaching/tutoring, but give me a chance and i will make it worth it. I cannot teach baby sign language only regular sign language. that is my only preference.

I had been a teacher for 12 years engaging in a multitude of learning styles and methodology. I spent 6 years serving as principal at all levels. I was Director of Education for two years and then served as Superintendent of Schools for two districts for a total of 15 years. During that time I never lost connection with teaching, mentoring students from all levels of education and continued to teach in the classroom at least once a week. I was an adjunct professor for two years at Waynesburg University in Pennsylvania. I retired in 2009 to travel and photograph the country, while living in and RV. It is my firm belief that if students have the confidence in themselves to believe they can do well, they will succeed. I believe that there is just not one way to teach because there are many different learning style. Teachers must identify their students' learning styles and find ways to incorporate them into the lesson. I agree with Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences. Some students are auditory learners, while some are visual. Some students are bodily-kinesthetic learners, while some are naturalists. Other students may be interpersonal or intrapersonal learners. It is my desire to pass a love of learning onto my students.
