My comments on tutoring Painting : Paint is something you buy in tubes. The picture or emotion to depict is in the mind. To show it to people you have to get the paint to communicate to perception. That is to get a reaction from a viewer.

Ive been involved in the visual graphic arts for 50 years. I have done every thing from airbrush t shirts in the 60s to build a huge sculpture for a local hospital. Ive worked with every material available to the public.Currently have a sculpture studio. Capable of working in metal and all plastics.We are now casting parts for the casino business. It consists of dragons that the eyes and other parts light up.These will be distributed world wide. Much of my work with the gaming industry goes to cruise ships and overseas.There is a need for sculpting and original art in that venue.
I go down the path of the students direction and try to help shape their vision that could lead to their goal.

Painting is one of my top subjects! I have over 30 years in the study of the field of art. I have studied watercolor as a media since 2001.

I encourage the student to discover their own art style. For the first six months of teaching erasers are not allowed. I also encourage the students to keep all the work done in study in a box or portfolio so that it can be reviewed and the student can see their growth.
I took two years of art in high school, the first year I informed by the teacher that after a month of her class, she could not teach me any more because I knew everything she knew about art. I was then encouraged to study and explore art on my own during the remainder of the year. I was awarded a 4th year excellence in art certificate, even though it was only my second year of formal study in art. I believe that children learn best when they are given confidence and support in every step they take. It can be a frustrating time for them and they need to know that they have everything they need to be successful and to learn a new skill. Patience, trust and understanding are vital to a child wanting to learn and be open to trying new things. I've worked with children, adolescents, and adult learners. I've worked in one-on-one settings in a writing center lab and have lectured to a classroom on a college campus and in an on-line setting. I, having taken several teaching practicums and pedagogy classes, work to constantly improve and revise my teaching methods. A Little Bit About Me...

I have volunteered for both summer camps (at local science museum) and at vacation bible school programs. I worked at a daycare for 2 years working with a 2 year old class, then worked as a preschool teacher for another year and a half. I have also worked as a Latin tutor, both for a semester as a teaching assistant to a high school class, and periodically with individual students while in college. Currently I am working on helping develop a summer science camp course at a local museum.
I feel like it is important to connect to students on a personal level yet still retain a professional attitude.
