My comments on tutoring Communications : Taught Communications 101 in San Quentin University to prisoners in the Prison University Project

I taught Communications 101 to 20 "lifers" at San Quentin Prison as part of the Prison University Project. Some of these men had not been in a classroom in 20 years. I've also spent three years on the Advertising Review Committee for the California Chapter of the American Lung Association vetting all adverting, marketing and PR messaging for the marketplace. Lastly, I published my first book in 2012 entitled "Buzzkill," which is now used as required reading at Drexel University in a Psychology 101 course. It has excellent reviews and I have a blog I used to promote it. It is available on Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com and about a million other outlets.

A Little Bit About Me...

My love of teaching is stimulated most when working with students who require the most assistance. Through my study in Educational Psychology, I have learned that all students have their own learning styles; I am able to quickly recognize students' learning styles and fashion my teaching style to what works best for each student. I employ a great deal of Vygotsky's research when teaching; that is to say that I fully understand Vygotsky's notion of how students' learning curves require a variety of sources to pull from such as media, books, music, and other people with whom to discuss their learning experiences.
