A Little Bit About Me...

During my undergraduate, I had multiple field studies in middle and high school classes. I also had to tutor elementary students through my college for certain reading classes. During my last semester, I filled a permanent substitute position for 7th grade intensive reading. In the 2022-2023 school year, I taught STEM language arts for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade.
My teaching style focuses on modeled and guided discussions so that students can talk through their understanding so I can remediate and reteach to ensure that they are learning and they find confidence in their learning.

After attending (and teaching in) a graduate program in American/British Literature and Language at L.S.U., I realized that my true calling was teaching. I began teaching English, Journalism, S.A.T. Prep., Latin, and other subjects in Springfield, MA in 2003 in an alternative, urban high school. I taught (and tutored after school) until I moved to Florida in 2009, when my spouse began graduate studies at U.S.F. My teaching style is student centered. I believe that in order for the student to grasp the material the lesson needs to be meaning for them. The authoritative teacher is not me. I like to be flexible making accommodations for the student so that they will have an open room to learn, because every student doesn’t learn the same way.
