My comments on tutoring Writing : My students have demonstrated their writing ability in their emails with native English speakers in the business world. My students in school recieved better grades in their work. I measured my success as a tutor by my students test scores and feedback from business colleagues.

I believe learning should be two way. Students should learn from a teacher and the teacher should be willing to learn from the students. My lessons are personalized to the student needs. My lessons are interactive.

Learn with experienced, successful tutor

My style of tutoring is creative flexibility. I assess the student's learning style and try to adapt to that, using different senses (kinetic, aural, oral) to trigger best responses. However, this is layered over a basic multi-part structure suited to the subject. I also like to set up a schedule of what our hour will be like, with some beginning exercises (usually recall from previous session). The rest of the hour would be structured with student input as much as possible. At the end, I like to introduce some free time to talk about the lesson and about any new ideas.

I graduated from Sonoma State with a BA in English, Single subject emphasis. I am taking a year off before I go back to get my teaching credential in reading. The majority of my classes were geared towards the teaching of reading and writing and I feel confident in my ability to help students improve in those areas.
