My experience tutoring or teaching anything is from junior high with my fellow classmates to high school helping middle-schoolers. Now, in college, I help colleagues with similar studies. My teaching style involves the student not only in the curriculum but also in the world around them. I enjoy helping students to relate what they have learned to outside the classroom. For example when teaching about a significant event in history, I challenge the student to think about how they would have thought about it in the past and how they can relate it to current events. A Little Bit About Me...

I am a bi-linual tutor. I have worked for the migrant education program in the federal programs department of the Jonesboro Public School district since August of 2008. Before that I taught ELL courses for Brookland Public Schools. I was adult education tutor for student support services at Arkansas State University and East Arkansas Community College. I have taught two Spanish Courses to high school students for the Arkansas Upward Bound program.
My style of teaching is very associative. I like to take any material that my student is trying to learn and present it in a way they can relate to, or may apply to them directly. A Little Bit About Me...

I love helping people and do my best to explain everything in detail. Math and chemistry come easier to me than others, and I understand this. That is why I take my time and do not get frustrated. Anyone can learn; you just have to figure out what is their best learning style and adapt for them to learn. I have always loved helping people, and I feel tutoring is a rewarding process.
I am graduating in May with my BA in Chemistry. I will continue school in the fall in hopes of entering the nursing program. I have helped several students with high school algebra, junior high algebra, as well as college algebra. I have helped non-traditional students not only pass but receive A's and B's in their math classes after not having a math class for 20 or more years. I have helped kids with special needs (such as autism) pass college level courses as well.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have a positive and patient way of getting through to students. Science was my favorite subject matter in college and I like to break down difficult information into terms that are easier to understand and follow. For example, I like to break down scientific terms by their roots. In doing so, my students not only remember what the terms mean for that class but can also apply that knowledge in future class work. I also believe in using reinforcement techniques such as repetition, writing, and regular revision/quizzing of the subject matter so that this not only keeps the information fresh but also make it easier to build on that information further.
