Critical thinking skills and untraditional ways are what I focus on. However the way someone learns, I will try to set the individual up to show how they learn and work with them. I will implement practices and materials I think will fit the student's profile. I feel a teacher wears many hats and you must be prepared to wear a different one any day.

I can't really say I have a style since I believe in adapting to the student(s) in front of me. Everybody is unique, so I must use different techniques to convey the same message to different students. I am very patient, I try to have my student thinking with me on the journey to find the answer. I can't give the answer away otherwise that student may never learn.
My tutoring experience started my sophmore year of college, as I was attending EMU. It started in the classroom, helping out classmates, etc. From that moment, people started to ask me for a help on a daily basis. That is when study groups were created, where I would either tutor a group of people or one individual at a time on weekends. I am still tutoring some middle and high schoolers in math and science. I also tutor now college students in Spanish and French.

His previous school experience was lacking at best, and he had little confidence in his scholastic ability. I was able to pinpoint his natural aptitude--mathematics--and use it to help not only boost his self-esteem regarding academics, but also to tailor my approach to his other subjects as well.
