A Little Bit About Me...

If you looked over my resume, you would see that I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, a year of experience as an adjunct instructor at a medical career college and two years teaching English as a Second Language at a private institution. However, if you looked over my life, you would see that I have been teaching, tutoring and mentoring my entire life. I have volunteered as a mentor, a tutor, and a teacher in community organizations, in local schools, and at my local church; and I home schooled my own children. During my teaching career, I have worked with people from varied backgrounds, various ages, people from all over the world, and I love it.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a firm believer in teaching a student using hands-on experience. Each child has been given the intellect and imagination to successfully compose and write his or her thoughts into an established piece of literature. By using a students own experience his learning process is instilled and encouraged by not only the teacher but himself. As the student progresses and he practices more, his work advances with him. A child must understand what is truly being asked of him, before he can successfully fulfill it, and the teacher must respect and listen to the student in order for her to help the student to excel.
For more than ten years, I have been teaching different styles and varieties of English Composition and Grammar as well as High School Spanish. Whether it’s a facet of elementary Creative Writing or developing a thesis for a high school term paper or designing newspaper adve ... read more

As a professionally trained English teacher, it is my duty and personal endeavor to help all students in reading, writing, and grammar. I chose to become an English teacher in order to pass on my personal admiration for the subject to future students. I hope to receive the opportunity to do so.

More About This Tutor...

I taught 7th grade Language Arts for six years when I lived in Florida. I collaborated on the team that created the Orange County curriculum for teaching writing to the middle grades. This curriculum is still in use today. I worked for the Princeton Review as a tutor doing SAT preparation both privately and in a classroom setting. This was in preparation for both the verbal and math skills sections.
I believe that students of all ages respond to humor, honesty, and respect. Subjects in which that students have difficulty can be made accessible to them by demonstrating to them the humor in learning something hard and the fun of conquering the subject. Learing should be something students enjoy.
