I learned how to play chess about twenty years ago, it's been rather on and off since then. I've steadily improved and tried so many different ways to improve before finding the right method for myself that I'm confident in my many approaches to teaching. As far as other subjects, I graduated high school with honors back in 2003 with a 3.8 GPA, and scored a composite 30 on the ACT. I was awarded the Presidential Scholarship from Baldwin-Wallace, went there for a year, didn't like the school at all (should have researched it more...) The methods of teaching I was instructed when I obtained my Bachelor in Education at the University of Akron Ohio, from 1989-1991, was the following Integrated, Whole language approach and Montessori. The method we were instructed to use in the Akron city school system was Integrated which uses basic and whole language approach language Arts. These integrated units allow us the opportunity to make sure children are learning relevant information and applying that knowledge to real life scenarios. I have always been a tutor of sorts. I love to teach kids because of the sparkle they get in their eyes when they finally understand what they are being taught. Each child have a different learning style so I try to work with them to see what works for them. I have worked with kids who have ADD and the gifted.
