I believe learning should be fun and creative and that children should have an environment that is friendly and caring to learn in. I think teachers should be patient with their difficulties and take time to give them the one on one attention that they need. I like thematic units and hands on activities. I like to teach reading and english. I like to use whole group, small groups, paired reading activities. I like to use magazines, newspapers, children's books and other materials that interest the students to teach reading.
I greatly enjoy seeing the students achieve their learning goals and their yearly progress In 2000, I began to teach special education and teaching special needs children with learning disabilities. Coming from a family of educators, I knew from an early age that I would become a teacher myself; therefore, all the steps taken to prepare for my professional life have been to enable me to be the best teacher I can be. I received both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of South Alabama. I received classroom teaching experience at a local middle school and as a university instructor. I currently have an extremely rewarding position with the Mobile Housing Board developing, coordinating, and instructing GED preparation classes. With this program I teach GED concepts and both group and individually tutor numerous students. I take pride in the fact that 100% of the students I referred to the official GED test obtained their GED.
