Having graduated from a Masters in the Arts of Teaching (Adolescent Science - Physics) program in the summer of 2009, I am not only well versed in the structure of New York State Regents Exams but am also up to date with many modern teaching and assessment techniques. I have had two student teaching placements, a year and a half of substitute teaching, and numerous experiences tutoring math and science to individuals and groups both professionally and as a volunteer since 2003. Further, having a Bachelor’s of Science in Materials Science and Engineering, I have also had experience with the applications and tools of math and science in varied contexts such as medicine, engineering, computer science, communications, forensics, and others.

Once in a classroom I realized that I was meant to teach. I love working with students who are challenging and those who challenge me. I believe that I can become a better teacher only by continually challenging myself and my students. The key phrase “engaging students” seems less than what is required in the classroom. I want my students to be engaged but I want them to encompass and enjoy what they are doing as well. I love technology and new method topics; I have a very strong math and science background as well as excellent written and verbal presentation skills. I was a hands on learner and often use hands on methods to teach when possible. I have taught every level from kindergarten to college level and feel comfortable doing so.
