In having a science background, I have not only learned laboratory skills and reasoning skills, but I have learned how to increase efficiency, communicate in a clear manner, and write in a way that is direct and clear. I enjoy learning, and I instill that passion into my students as best I can. I grew up with a mom who is an English teacher, so I have developed good communication skills and writing skills from her. I have taught Biology for two years at the college level and I very much enjoy the experience of knowing that what you have been trying to convey to your students just hit home. I taught 7th grade students this past summer with a wonderful organization called Breakthrough Collaborative. I dealt with students who would grasp the material right away, and then those students that would need me to explain the information several times for them to understand it.
