I taught high school and middle school Spanish for two and half years at public schools, and completed my student teaching at an alternative school for juvenile criminals. I was an at home teacher for my school district when children were out for extended periods due to illness. I have completed additional continuing education in working with gifted and special needs children. I enjoy sharing my passion for learning with others and love to see the “light” come on when a student finally understands a concept.

My greatest joy as a tutor and professor is to witness the "Ah-ha" moment when the light bulb comes on and the student puts the pieces together and comes to understand the topic, and, perhaps more importantly, understands the significance or ramifications of the topic in relation to other topics or disciplines. Throughout my tutoring experience, I noticed oftentimes, students wouldn’t be able completely grasp the concepts the first time when I explained to them. To resolve this problem, I have learned that it is helpful to explain the process of solving the same problem from a different perspective or using a different method. Also, sometimes after I explain a problem to the student, to make sure that the student really understands the concept, I ask the student to explain the same problem back to me or to another student who is also confused about the same problem. During my college career I worked in a chemistry lab and this helped me learn and understand all aspects of chemistry and I trained 2 undergrads. I was also taught chemistry at after school programs and tutored students. I started tutoring math to people in high school but through college I tutored chemistry. I love them both. A Little Bit About Me...

I found working with young minds in different Early Childhood agencies is one reason for earning my Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education. I then wanted to expand my enjoyment and empower others by obtaining my BSW. I have wanted to be a Social Work ever since high school.
