A Little Bit About Me...

I love working with students and teaching them something new. The best feeling is when someone understands a concept that they didn't before; when something "clicks" for a student, I feel as if my job as a tutor was done. I'm a very determined, persistent, caring, and patient person; all of these characteristics have helped me become a great tutor.
As a current undergraduate chemistry and honors student at Arcadia University, I was recommended to become a tutor from several of my teachers my first year in college. I became a certified CRLA tutor and started tutoring my sophomore year of college; I've been tutoring ever since. I tutor chemistry, biology, math (beginner algebra, statistics, calculus I and II), and calculus based physics.

My approach to tutoring is to first make the student feel comfortable and to realize that they are not "stupid" or inferior because they need help. Then I find out specifically where they are having difficulties and concentrate on that area. If they still are having difficulties in that area, I will move on to the next topic so that they don't get frustrated. Once they have obtained some level of confidence, I will revisit the area where they were having difficulties. I believe in positive feedback, so I will motivate my students through encouraging words and praise, without being patronizing.
I earned my MA degree in Biology from Villanova University in December 1997. I have been on the National Dean's List as well as the Dean's list for my college, I was very much driven to achieve a high level of excellence in everything I do. I have my bachelor degree, BS in Chemistry, As well as an associates in Graphic Design. I have gained an understanding in many areas of math and science and spacial concepts.
