My comments on tutoring Algebra I : Expert - have done PhD level work in mathematics

I have over 30 years of experience in the oil industry, initially in quality control, but quickly promoted to programmer after writing some programs on my own time to help with the quality control. I have programmed professionally since 1979, using many different languages and operating systems, on many different kinds of hardward (mainframes, work stations, PC's, Macs). I have written a lot of software on my own, including many UNIX utilities (much improved versions of ls, grep, and diff, for example). I have written 2 powerful command line calculator programs, as well as some powerful mathematical graphics software, which I can use in tutoring. My comments on tutoring Algebra I : I have tutored and taught Algebra 1. I am Texas certified in secondary mathematics.

My specialty, however, is to develop curriculum and courses that meet the needs of students. I have created courses in a multitude of areas. Some highlights are: Drexel Prep: When I was a graduate student in electrical engineering at Drexel University, I found out that the minority enrollment was less than one tenth of one percent of Drexel. I joined a group of professors and volunteer students that developed projects for an after school engineering program. I also created a Saturday basketball program. The result of the programs helped result in a dramatic increase in minority enrollment.
