Painting is one of my top subjects! I hold a BFA in Illustration (2001) and an MFA in Painting (2005). The majority of my painting work has been in acrylic, though I have used oil paint from time to time as well.

I am almost done with my second year, studying a Bachelors at Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. This summer I was traveling Italy and France doing Organic Farming and art. My course work included AP calculus and AP US government, on both exams I received good marks. In college I studied a wide variety of classes in pursuit of a degree in the liberal arts. My main foci were history, foreign languages and English literature and grammar while maintaining a love for the sciences and mathematics. I tell my students to just tell me in their own words what they are trying to say. When they speak aloud, the words flow, and then I say, "There is your opening sentence right there. Quick! Write it down." At other times, I ask them to pretend that they are really someone else, an actor in a television show, for example, and I have them imagine that the character, not they themselves, are speaking. This releases the student to let go of inhibitions and let the film roll "for the character" and then they stop focusing on themselves.
