All children are students; they can learn. The question is how best do they learn? I have used many differing styles from rote memorization through self-paced self-education. I encourage students to see the wonder and "mystery" (there really isn't any mystery) of Math, regardless of the level, in the real world. To that aid, I try to present real world problems at levels the student can understand. For lower level students, I investigate with them the development of the linear equations involved in setting up a relationship between two factors. A higher level student would solve multiple linear equations. A height vs. time linear relationship then can become quadratic, thus involving sports as an application.

I have returned to college as an adult learner for a Political Science Degree. As a returning student, my experience has been much more satisfying than that of a younger learner. What I have also found in attending classes is, I am able to contribute in a very practical way to college courses because I have been in the field working for many years.
