A Little Bit About Me...

I recently finished teaching ESL grades K-12 in a temporary leave assignment from May 2013 to January 2014. During this six month leave I have administered and scored NYSESLAT and LAB-R. I have also introduced common core curriculum at the elementary school level using Castle Learning. I traveled between three buildings teaching ESL K-12, this includes pull-out and push-in assignments. Tutoring should be a tool used to complement traditional education. When tutoring there is little help in providing information to the student the same way that the teacher presents it. Tutors may also fall into the trap of simply giving the student the answers. For these reasons I prefer an holistic approach to tutoring. Every student is different and they all have different ways of understanding the material.
