My teaching methods vary depending upon the subject matter and the pupil’s preferences. I enjoy getting to know students and customizing their learning experience to the methods that will best serve them. In the classroom setting, I employ many forms of teaching, including lecture, memorization, demonstration and the Socratic Method when appropriate. Students that I have tutored/mentored have become very successful in their life after graduation from H.S./College. I know that if a child can read, and understand what they read, they can be successful in life. That is my first priorty in the education of a student.
During the past 5 years I have been a substitute teacher for Kentwood Public Schools and Excel Charter School in both elementary and high school classes. I began my career as a high school teacher teaching grades 9-12. My engagement with students at this level was highly satisfying; I loved teaching this age group speech and drama courses. After that I spent several years in a FT professional touring performance ensemble that performed for all ages in a variety of settings across the Midwest.
