My comments on tutoring College Algebra : Took Algebra, and use mathematics daily.

Students should come to me with problems, questions, and having tried to understand the material first. Questions are important to me because they help give a sense of where you are getting confused and stuck. Physics and Mathematics are difficult, and there is no such thing as a stupid question. Ideally, students will do reading, and then work through concepts and problems with me, where I help when stuck and point out mistakes.
Began as a Teaching Assistant (TA) in the Michigan Technological Universities (MTU) physics department as a physics lab TA for 3 years. After graduating with a mathematics undergraduate degree in 1998, I have continued to study all areas of mathematics for the last 12 years. I have passed numerous actuarial exams that cover advanced mathematic topics as well as becoming a charterholder in the CFA Institute in 2009. As a Teaching Assistant I led a 50 minute recitation of the material, graded materials, and kept records for my 30 students. As a tutor I helped MSU undergraduates learn key concepts and study for their upcoming exams. I worked in the Algebra room and the Calc I room.
