Hi! My name is Allison. I am originally from Jackson, MS and currently live in Little Rock, AR. I am a student of life and love to learn and teach! Most of my teaching experience has been in general studies with students in the range of 9 yrs to 21 yrs old. I enjoy teaching all subjects as well as study and learning skills to students of all ages. I believe in working with parents and/or students to tailor my services to meet each individual student's needs. I also have a love for teaching learning skills and test-taking skills to students with ADHD and teaching how to use the positive aspects of ADHD to your advantage as a student. I am a native Spanish speaker. I have babysat for children with ages ranging from two to eight years old and I have incorporated Spanish lessons into my caretaking. I also have taught Spanish to adults in a more informal setting with friends from different backgrounds. Now, that I'm fluent in english I have on many occasions helped my sister with her English Courses. I like to start by getting to know the level that the student is at. From there I make a lesson plan for you. First, I like to show you the subject and then do some practices, like games or real life conversation. I find that it is best to start off with a casual introduction and then increase difficulty from there. I am patient but I expect students to try hard and be engaged in the lesson.

I always adapt my teaching style to fit the student. I am willing to do just about anything to help a student learn a subject, so long as that student is as dedicated to learning it as I am to teaching it. It takes two people working together in order to have a sucessful tutoring session. I have tutored most subjects in both in middle school and high school. My most recent experience was tutoring psychology and spanish at the college level. I do not hold a teaching certificate, but I do love to teach.

I have tutored at several locations and can provide references for the high school and college students that I have tutored. I would also be comfortable teaching basics of math, physics, or Spanish. I have taught University classes on chemistry for beginners (high school level) as part of my graduate assistantship. Very comfortable working with large groups or individuals. I have like to use interaction and real-world examples to demonstrate the concepts of chemistry. I can drill students who are struggling or not comfortable with the rhythm of the classroom, or review with A.P. chemistry students before a test. I let the students drive the direction of a tutoring session when they are confident in core concepts.

I have been involved in a lot of activities and feel the best way to teach is to relate to the student. As a tutor, I have worked with many different types of students and I found a way to relate the information to something they were interested in. I believe all students are capable of learning the material; it just has to be presented in a way they understand. I received my BS degree in 2007 in pre-medicine. I majored in pre-professional zoology and I have a minor in biochemistry. I also worked at the Talent Development Center as a tutor for biology, botany, chemistry and biochemistry. I have a strong background in all science courses and maintained a 3.87 GPA throughout college.
