I have taught for a total of 15 years at Arab High School. I have taught the following in the classroom setting, but I have tutored for even longer in all subjects that I indicated. Algebra I (A and B split also) Geometry Algebra II (with and without Trig) Analytical Pre-Cal Algebraic Connections
I am a very laid back person, but also very disciplined when it comes to my instruction. If there is not a certain level of comfort and respect between the student and teacher, no learning will take place. I care deeply about the success of my students and try to go above and beyond to show them that I am invested in them completely, not just in their math studeies.

Aerospace Engineer with tutoring experience

I have mentored/ tutored elementary students in first Lego league competition while as college student. Additionally I worked as a tutor and grader for the U of I. I grading homework of fellow students, giving me good insight in where people often struggle. I also tutored technical courses for undergraduate students. These courses included, physics 1-3, intro Chem, linear algebra, calculus, electrical and aerospace engineering course. After graduating I began working as a full time engineer, but remain available to tutor for individuals.
I teach through examples and Q&A. I strongly encourage students to interrupt with questions as the occur. I have found through my own education, I am unable to focus or concentrate when thinking of another question. Often small benign questions can lead to larger answers or breakthroughs for students.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a Teach for America corps member, I taught both high school and middle school math in the urban corps to students who were, on average, three years behind. I have learned how to identify critical gaps in content knowledge that prevent students from progressing, and have found fun and creative ways to build their confidence back up so they can learn to really enjoy math.

Have fun learning and reach for excellence!

I have lead many training sessions dealing with a multitude of different topics. I do my homework, and make sure I am fully prepared before any training session. I want to make sure I know the answers to any possible question before the questions are asked. I have tutored students one-on-one and in small groups from different levels of math to every aspect of English, grammar, and writing. I have taught many classes in painting and drawing, and I am a constant student of all areas of art, including photography.
My personal style of learning is to learn by doing. I get my students involved in any process and get them to actually do the work so they learn it from experience, not just reading about it and taking for granted they know what is going on. Seeing the steps in action and seeing the final result brings a sense of accomplishment, which helps a student learn the correct ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

Patient, understanding, and thorough would be the three words I would use to describe my teaching style. I am patient, because I understand that with a subject like Math, one has to know that it may take a great amount of time for the student to fully grasp the subject matter. I am understanding, for I know that each and every student is unique in how they can most effectively learn the subject of Math and how their instructor can teach them the subject most clearly. And, finally, I am thorough because I believe in working with the student until he or she fully understands the subject and is able to demonstrate to me that they have a full grasp on the concepts being presented to them.
I have had two years experience as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Alabama - Huntsville (U.A.H.), where I worked as both an instructor and a tutor. My tutoring experience ranged ... read more

As an engineering graduate, I know that hard work, dedication, and diligent study habits are often required to succeed in school. These qualities are some that if carried on throughout life will help to always achieve excellence. I graduated from Mississippi State University with a bachelor degree in biomedical engineering. I graduated with a 3.6 GPA, which allowed me to walk with honors. Throughout my studies I have written many papers so I am comfortable with grammar, but many of my classes were math and biology based.

I realize that each individual has their own learning style, and I am flexible in motivating my students to help them excel in their own way. I feel that every student can become more ... read more

I have a results oriented approach with a proactive style and look for ways to teach outside of the normal box, making it more fun. I am a make it happen sort of person, meaning that I give hands on attention to learning in core areas where there appears to be deficiency. I have found this to work best with my two boys and others I have taught. That said, I believe the best learning takes place when there is a feeling of trust and acceptance, so I seek to earn trust with employees or students by focusing on honesty, fairness, patience and communication along with learning.

More About This Tutor...

I recently earned my second bachelor degree, BS in Chemical Engineering and BS in Chemistry, from The University of Alabama in Huntsville. I have gained understanding in critical thinking, technical writing, and a good foundation of math and science necessary in the field of Chemistry. I began tutoring my sophomore year of college, after a professor told me I solved a tricky problem in an odd, yet time effective manner. I tutored inorganic chemistry, algebra, calculus, statistics, and various engineering classes. I continued tutoring for 1 year, at which time I began teaching a chemistry lab.
I enjoy helping students see that math, chemistry and engineering courses are doable, and that they have much potential. I am polite, patient, and extremely motivated. I will not be satisfied with myself until I am sure the student has learned and overcome the problem at hand. I strive to ... read more

I hold a BS in Commerce and Business Administration from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. My background is not in education however I have experience as a teacher. I have been a water safety instructor and lifeguard training instructor in which I have taught children from toddler age up to college age. I have also tutored my wife and sister in accounting and my 12 year old nephew in math.

A Little Bit About Me...

While tutoring at my college, I received specialized training on identifying and adjusting to different learning styles. I use this knowledge to tailor each session to the needs of the individual student. To track progress, I like to set both short-term and long-term goals and create manageable steps toward reaching these goals. I also think it is important to teach students to establish general study skills so that they can make their own study plans for future courses.
For many years, education has been one of my top priorities. I graduated salutatorian of my high school class and summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences. In high school, I tutored in a local elementary school, focusing on developing students' grammar and composition skills. While in college, I tutored chemistry, biology, physics and math courses up to graduate levels.
