An accomplished concert pianist, singer and writer, Mytch received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Piano from Brigham Young University-Idaho in 2014, under the private instruction of Dr. Stephen R. A Little Bit About Me...

I am a strong believer in the Socratic style of teaching which, as you know, helps students themselves to think through issues and problems and discover the answer as we move along. I have always enjoyed leading students to that 'eureka' moment where they have grasped a difficult idea or concept, put it in their own words, and communicated it back to me, the teacher. While earning a BA in English at Reed College, I gained valuable experience in researching and writing essays on the variety of subjects required for a liberal arts degree. Within my own major, I continually practiced literary interpretation and criticism, argument development, and editing. I have also broadened my knowledge of English grammar through teaching English as a Second Language to Spanish and Italian speakers. A Little Bit About Me...

Over the past year I have tutored through The College of Idaho's Chemistry Club. Chemistry, especially the math portions, never came easily to me. I had to work hard and spend hours asking professors questions, but now I am much better at chemistry because of it. As a tutor I wanted to help fellow students who were struggling as I had.
Just telling a child how to do a problem is not effective. I believe a teacher needs to explain the logic and reasoning behind solving certain problems certain ways. Knowing this can help the child discover what works specifically to him/her. If a child learns to reason for his/her self, they gain the ability to be lifetime learners. As a graduate of The Conservatory of Recording Arts and sciences I have a vast understanding of the principles and science behind music and sound.
