A Little Bit About Me...

I have one year of experience teaching children. This experience was teaching a nutrition and wellness program designed by Fargo Cass Public Health to elementary age children. I have a BS in Community Health Education, which has given me the skills to design, implement, and deliver many lessons on health-related topics. As an intern at the Alzheimer's Association, I was able to teach professionals and the community about the disease. As a young college student I understand that my experience doesn't compare to those with degrees and much time doing it. But I know that being an older sister to younger brothers and sisters while helping them with homework and watching them grow up is a type of tutoring. I have been there for all my brothers milestones, when he learned how to walk, learned to talk, and started to learn to read. I am very proud to say that I have been there every step of the way. I see my job as that of facilitator: the student is there, the information is there, and the student is the learner. I'm just there to guide, explain, provide details, clarify, relate new information to existing knowledge, etc. The student has to be "in charge," so to speak. I can't force knowledge into someone's mind, it has to be learned, but I can help make that information real and relevant to provide the motivation to learn.
