I use measurable assessments so you can see your progress.

More About This Tutor...

As all students are individuals, the goal of the personal tutor is to detect what type of learning experience allows the individual student to best fulfill their potential. When the correct learning approach is found, the tutor can fully benefit the student. All students will respond positively when they are treated with dignity and know that the tutor believes in their abilities. Teaching with patience and consideration of the individual student’s needs will foster the understanding of the subject matter. I believe in a structured, paced approach to learning that focuses on the triumphs and not the mistakes.
After earning my B.S. degree in Food and Nutrition Science, I was able to experience the use of science and mathematics in basic research, government service, and private industry. With this practical application of the sciences and math I understand the need of a student to g ... read more

More About This Tutor...

When I began my college education I declared pre-med as my course of study. Unfortunately, since I had to work to put myself through school, I became burned out my the countless hours of work. When I was no longer having fun in school, I decided to switch majors and declared History. History can be very interesting coursework and also allowed flexibility in further education if I decided to persure more higher education.
I try to utilize many different styles of teaching methods as everybody learns information differently. I believe that one will learn more quickly if they are able to do the task themselves rather then watch the task be done. I also believe that we all learn through our own mistakes much faster then trying to learn from anothers mistake.

Every kid is different in their own special way. You need different tactics per different kid. Being that I am patient and caring I know that it wouldn't take long for them to get comfortable with me and have me assist them. I believe that every good deed should be rewarded and if the student is doing well he shall be treated so, with a possible treat or even a pat on the back. I feel that if a child is told what they are doing right rather than what they are doing wrong they are more likely to have a positive outlook on what task they are trying to accomplish.
As a young college student I understand that my experience doesn't compare to those with degrees and much time doing it. But I know that being an older sister to younger brothers and sisters while helping them with homework and watching them grow up is a type of tutoring. I have been there for all my brothers milestones, whe ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

During my time at Concordia College, I was a strong tutor and office manager for the Reading/Writing Center, helping with composition in both English and Spanish. My grammar and usage knowledge is quite extensive, and I love tutoring writing and composition. I've also done quite a lot of tutoring in the ESL environment, as well as tutoring elementary math and reading.
I see my job as that of facilitator: the student is there, the information is there, and the student is the learner. I'm just there to guide, explain, provide details, clarify, relate new information to existing knowledge, etc. The student has to be "in charge," so to speak. I can't force knowledge into someone's mind, it has to be learned, but I can help make that information real and relevant to provide the motivation to learn. I'm very attentive to affective factors (stress, irrelevance, animosity, etc.) that ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I have had a variety of work experiences in the past ranging from resident assistant, teacher, counselor, and multicultural tutor. These experiences have lead to the building of invaluable skills such as organization, prioritizing, adapting quickly to challenges and changing environments, and strong self-management skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills were needed to succeed in each of these endeavors as well. While working in these different roles I was able to exhibit my natural leadership, creativity and problem solving skills. They were rewarding experiences that required my enthusiasm and dedication.
I am an industrious and creative teaching professional with the ability to teach, motivate, and instill a love of learning in others. I feel the desire to make the most of every moment to ensure these students get the most from the experience. I plan a variety o ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I truly enjoy helping others learn, and enjoy the challenge of finding the best way to help them learn. I have a patient, friendly, outgoing attitude & have worked with students from age 7-17.
During college, I discovered how much I truly enjoyed learning, and that drove me to take every elective course I could fit into my class schedule. I hold a BA in Biology, with a minor in Spanish. I also participated extensively in the music program as a pianist, participating in recitals, accompanying soloists & groups, and teaching piano lessons.
