I have found teaching to be the most fulfilling and challenging experience of my life thus far. Each classroom environment and student is dynamic and different. My experience working with students from ages 10-25 has showed me the various ways that students learn and has challenged me to become an effective communicator in any situation. I recently graduated from Eastern University as a double major in accounting and finance.My courses in investments, finance, accounting and business have given me a solid base upon which I plan to build my career. I have a strong knowledge of QuickBooks, Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc. During my college career I was a tutor for the entire business department tutoring all accounting and finance classes along with select business classes. Not only did I excel in tutoring but as the TA for finance had taken over teaching for three weeks as the professor became ill. My expertise is in 5th & 6th grades, but am available for grades 2-8. I have some science background and taught technology also.
I loved teaching! I think I retired too early because I miss the every day challenges and excitement teaching gives! I have been trained in 4Mat and Gardners Multiple Intelligences. I firmly believe "every child can learn" as long as you teach to their learning style. My daughter is following in my foot steps and will start her first teaching job in September. I believe anyone can learn and their quality of knowledge improved by finding a level and rapport that works for each individually. I work patiently, with humor, and at a pace with students that helps them to feel not only comfortable but appreciated for their efforts. I consider a key ingredient to be to first find what base levels of knowledge the student has before plunging into the subject at hand.
