Multiple Strategies Used to Manifest Understanding

I am a kinesthetic, visual learner and that is how I like to teach. I was not one of those students who could hear a concept once and apply the it the next second with total understanding. I needed to draw situations out, picture guides, analogies, and other strategies that made it possible for my mind to grasp and understand. In response to growing up with the continuous difficulty of facing teachers who were not fans of nonlinguistic learning, I found a passion in tutoring and teaching in a way that allows students to have multiple opportunities to understand.
I have worked in the lab of a major hospital in Lincoln for 5 years, previous to receiving my degree. I am easygoing, but enjoy challenging my students to do well. I always try to be prepared and make sure that I am familiar with the material before any tutoring sessions. I am not concerned with time and feel that if it does take longer than the hour assigned to completely help the student understand the material, then I am more than willing to put in extra time to help them.
I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 2008 and am now almost done with my Master's in Biomedical Sciences. I was a laboratory teaching assistant for two years and a math tutor in the Creighton University Math Department for 2 years. I also did some private math tutoring for the undergraduates in Calculus I as well.
