My comments on tutoring Homework Help : I am happy to help with homework up through high school level. I do not feel comfortable with upper level science and math but can assist in all other areas.

I have taught over 20 years in private & public schools in Hawaii & one summer in Michigan. My experience ranges from elementary to college level. I have also tutored SAT prep in English and math and instructed English As a Second Language for Hawaii Pacific University in their summer exchange programs with Asian countries. During the summers, I teach the Brown Reading Systems at private schools, most recently at I'olani. I have experience with both highly motivated and at-risk high school students, active military, and adults. During my years of teaching GED prep, I covered the four core subjects with focus on language arts and math.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have tutored various math subjects, ranging from Pre-Algebra to Calculus at the college level. I have tutored one-on-one and have also tutored in small groups. I earned a BS degree in Mathematics Education and am anxious to put this degee to good use with teaching. For the past four years, I have had various positions as a tutor/teacher, particularly in math. When I was a freshman in college, I knew that my future was in my hands. I befriended and contacted my chemistry professor and zoology advisor. I worked in both of their labs, and I was only a freshman! By studying in their research groups, I gained the experience necessary to intern at Sea Life Park Hawaii. In fact, I was published in 2007 after working for Dr. Charlie Cox in the Chemistry Department. Recognizing the need for more hands-on research experience, I found another opportunity with another professor in cellular biology. In addition to conducting this research, I co-wrote the research proposal for the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program. This was an honor, for we were awarded funding for the project!
