Ever since I started my education (going for my Bachelor degree), I fell in love with Mathematics. Throughout my educational career I became very interested in fields such as algebra, calculus and analysis, geometry and topology, and combinatorics. This interest was furthered through my master's degree, as I learnt more and more about the mathematical economics and applied statistics. Anyone can be taught anything as long as they are sincere in learning that thing. There is no one style of teaching that works for everyone. Any teacher worth their weight in salt would know that you have to first understand the student in order to teach them. Sometimes the teacher will need to teach the student how to learn.

A Little Bit About Me...

Both my parents were teachers and I enjoyed teaching as well. I've had good teachers and I know how important it is to be a student of your students and to know your stuff so that you can be effective as a teacher. I consider myself very patient, a good listener, and someone who can explain matters in multiple ways so that a student can understand and relate what they are learning to real life situations.
I'm a 25 year professional accountant with a CPA license in CAlifornia and Hawaii. I attended public schools and local community college before going on to graduate with high honors from the University of Hawaii. I moved to the mainland and worked full-time while obtaining my masters degree from USC. I've helped my 19 year old son through high school (he has a learning disability in math) and my 21 year old daughter with her business classes.

I am patient and knowledgeable in the subjects that I tutor. In over two years of experience I never received a single complaint from a student. In fact, most of my students have praised my ability to cover subjects in great technical detail as well as simplifying complex subjects into very understandable terms. I carefully analyze whether the student has a technical or terminological issue with a subject before beginning my explanations. My favorite method of instruction is via simile which I find helps students absorb knowledge by finding practical applications in their everyday lives.
