A Little Bit About Me...

I have worked as a teacher on the Big Island, and spent over ten years as a volunteer trainer at public access television facilities in New York and Texas. I am currently seeking tutoring work as I complete the last year of my online "masters in elementary education" program. I have a bachelors in Psychology, and twenty years of working experience, 5 in supervisory positions. I can teach elementary and high school level work. In the past I have taught primarily science, media and reading/writing. I am current on modern tutoring methods and practices.
I believe that once a student can enjoy the process of learning they can begin to internalize the good study habits required for academic success. I have earned two bachelor degrees which has given me the chance to motivate other youths and kids to seek the world and don't let it end with High school. There is more to life. Granting that Education is the key to success and without education there will be no sense of direction.

More About This Tutor...

My college experience was unique to the learning community. Instead of theorizing and contemplating what lives the subjects we studied were living, we lived amongst those most only read about. In addition to traditional bouts of homework and exams I lived in the homes and attended their schools. The philosophy, language and religions they lived became our texts. During which I spent an extended amount of time learning about Japanese culture, their language and their traditions. In Japan I was able to pick up a majority of their spoken and written language, which inevitably assisted me in completing an unprecedented study of the Chinese in Japan. The multiple discipline study allows me to share those subjects with my students.

I recently graduated with my Master's degree in Social Welfare from the University of California at Berkeley, and earned my first graduate degree in 1997 at the University of California at Los Angeles in Education. A Little Bit About Me...

As a student of the life sciences, I have gained a foundation of knowledge which consists of chemistry, physics, and biology. High scoring on graduate school entrance exams earned me a position to tutor others studying for the MCAT and GRE with a test preperation organization. Balancing the hard sciences with sociology, anthropology, and philosophy, I have been able to develop my own critical writing style.
