Teaching is not my career, however, I have taught young children through 6th grade many years ago using a spoken system followed up by TV. Children learned the meaning of the words in context without having to translate each time. It was a fun interactive experience. This gave them a feel for the intonations and pronounciation of the language and a good sense of what they were communicating from repetition and use. The actual meanings fell into place much easier as well as structure. I have helped with translations on many occassions and offered assistance to friends who wished to travel and have basic speaking knowledge to communicate in their travels.

Though I received my degree last June, most of my teaching experience came while I was still learning. In high school, I worked as a museum docent for after-school programs - at one point trying to convince 3rd graders that M.C. Escher's life and work were as exciting as the afternoon TV they were missing. While in college, I worked for Apple computer, teaching adults in one-on-one tutoring sessions in computer usage. I graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in outdoor education. I have worked with students in a variety of settings both in the public schools and in the outdoors. I was a site facilitator at a before and after school program, tutoring 60 children grades K-5.
