I have a wide variety of educational experience and have recently crossed over into the realm of education as a Special Education/At-Risk teacher with the Edgerton School District. My current position has me utilizing differentiated instruction and modification techniques with nearly 50 students throughout the day which will enhance my ability to tutor others who need help. My particular areas of expertise are Social Studies, Spanish, English and ASVAB/GED test prep. I am weaker in Math and Science. I prefer to have materials prepared prior to any tutoring session so communication ahead of time will be essential. If I have an idea of what is expected of me then I am able to help modify the session to fit the learner. I like to use both direct teach as well as discussion to help guide the tutoring session.

I am a compassionate person who will do whatever it takes to help students succeed. I always encourage my students to ask as many questions as they need to so that they have a firm understanding of the material. I love seeing the growth in the individual student. Students who have had me as a teacher report that they thought they were incapable of doing math but after taking my course their confidence has exceeded their expectations. I am a certified 6 - 12 Secondary Mathematics teacher. I have been teaching for 10 years with my last four being at the college level. I have been awarded the Who's Who a number of times. I just received my master's degree in mathematics from Marquette this spring.

As a mathematics student at UW-Milwaukee, I became familiar with many areas of math including calculus and further courses. I have gained experience tutoring middle, high school and college math. In addition to algebra and geometry, I have helped students in grammar and reading. I understand that math can be a frustrating subject at times. It can also be rewarding, especially when you discover good solutions. I would hope to decrease frustration and increase understanding through examples, practice and a belief in success.

I love working with middle school aged youth. Each child recieves, processes and transmitts information differently, therefore I will do my best to provide dirretiatedlearning tools to ensure academic success. I believe education is the passport to the future. I have earned a BA of Communication from Marquette University which is ranked in the top 100 college/universities in the nation. I have experience as a teacher, tutor, and educational coordinator. I have worked with at-risk students. I have implemented and designed instruction and curriculum for my former district.

I worked for College of Lake County as a math tutor on algebra from January 2006 to November 2008 I've been working as a paraprofessional or teacher aid at Green Bay and South School (Elementary) in the school district of North Chicago, IL from August 2006 to June 2011. As a math tutor I helped students from College of Lake County solve math problems. As a paraprofessional or teacher aid I helped or tutored student with the homework, or with the material initially introduced by the teacher and needed to be reinforced to the students from the bilingual department. One to one and/or small group, and/or entire class when it was needed because of the teacher's absence.

I have served as an instrumental music educator under contract for three years; I have been a substitute teacher in public schools for fifteen years. I have taught all grade levels. I have learned extensive grammatical skills due to writing research papers as a graduate student. I have tutuored many students primarily on musical instruments. I love teaching and working with all children. Every child is different in their personalities. I am patient, easy going and considerate. My goal is to provide the best education possible. In addition to my music skills, I also have studied accounting at the local community college, and earned an accounting certificate.
