I've always known that I wanted to work with children and adolescents. Prior to college, I was chosen to enroll in a course that helps those desiring to work in education or any filed working with young people. Also, I worked as a Substitute teacher and Paraprofessional Teacher for a special needs classroom over the course of a school year; which include the areas of reading, mathematics, science, and language arts. I received my Bachelor's of Science degree in Child and Adolescent Psychology with a minor in Sociology in May of 2009, and I am currently working on my Master's of Counseling. I have earned two bachelor degrees, one in Information Systems and Business Processes and the other in Communications and Media. I believe that education is very important and am now continuing my education, I plan to receive my Masters in Higher Education in May 2012. A Little Bit About Me...

I first start by explaining the material the way that I understand it. I also show examples to show how the problems are solved. If it doesn't seem to be taking then I start to break the problems down into simple steps and explain each step until the student understands. I also try to relate the material to them so they can relate to the material on a more personal level so that the information will stick with them better.
During my time at Hampden-Sydney College, I was a math tutor, computer science tutor,and a physics tutor. I started tutoring my junior year of college where I just tutor math and computer science. I mostly help students with Calc I and Calc for Econ problems. In my senior year, I continued to tutor math, but I tutored stats instead of calculus. I also tutored physics.

A Little Bit About Me...

I see teaching as a challenge to me. I love to help students and Elderly people. While attending community college and later university in South Carolina, I tutored many fellow classmates. I began tutoring and mentoring students in secondary school and college in Greenville and realized what a powerful difference one can make by setting a positive example and being a good role model. A Little Bit About Me...

What I have discovered about myself is that I learn differently from other people. I am the kind of person who prefers to set aside that assembly instruction manual and put together that Christmas toy by laying out the pieces in an orderly fashion. There is so much pleasure in problem solving. I learn by asking myself questions. I have little patience for mundane drills and memorization if they can be avoided. Each child is different. It is meaningless to say that a child is intelligent. There are many kinds of intelligences. Some children are more intelligent in memorization. Others are intelligent in solving problems.
