I believe a solid foundation is the key th success.

I began working with pre-k age group as a lead teacher for the four year olds room. After leaving that placement I started working with high school aged students as a substitute. Working with these young adults reinforced my belief that if a student does not have the basic skills learned early in their education, it is very difficult to go back and relearn them. I have worked with all age groups over the last seven years. I enjoy the elementary age level the most because I believe that a solid foundation is the key to successful learning.

I was an elementary education major for 2.5 years before following my specific passion to writing and literature in my Junior year to finish up school. I graduated with a 3.35 QPA from Slippery Rock University in May of 2015! I have completed reading instructional courses in K-6th elementary education as well as courses in literature and reading assessment. Elementary Reading is one of my top subjects! I have worked well with children K-2. I focus on Sight Words, Fluency, and Comprehension. This is where I really start from where they are at and build on what they know. Then I slowly introduce new words or books to read and create new challenges in fun games and activities. I had a student go from the lowest reading group to the honor roll this year and now she loves to read! This is why I love my job!!!

I currently have a Florida Teaching Certificate, 17 yrs. teaching in PreK - 2nd grade, and 4 yrs. tutoring. I have always loved being around young children. It was no surprise that I ended up pursuing an Early Childhood Education Bachelor's and Master's Degree.
