My comments on tutoring Testing Strategies : discover a particular learning style and develop a study strategy for that student

Over the years I have developed study skills to help students with special needs as well as help individuals with special needs on the job site. I interview a potential student to find out the best way he or she learns. I would then adapt my teaching style to their learning method.I have worked with visually impaired students who needed me to transcribe their classroom tapes into braille or who needed me to write lecture notes for them. I worked with students who were taking English as a Second Language writing up grammar lessons,participating in Bridge classes, developing study hours for conversational practices at home and using pictures to get across ideas. Al though I have never technically tutored or taught a child writing, I am interested in helping aid a child's learning experience. I have been at Pennfield High School for almost 6 months now and I have learned how to incorporate the new standards into the curriculum. I am currently teaching part time in the Mathematics department, teaching the subjects of Geometry and Algebra. I also have spent 5 years working for the Carman Ainsworth School District as an At-Risk tutor. I have had to lower myself to the students’ level of understanding to make the subject of Mathematics make sense to each individual student. through my teaching career I have had numerous workshops and professional Development in all areas in education. I have been able to combine different teaching strategies to fit the needs of my students. In Arizona I taught Fourth Grade where 80% of my studens were English Language Learners of Hispanic decent. This was a real leaning experience. I took the Dibels training which really helped my teaching techniques. Using Orton-Guillingham guidelines with the hundreds of hours of teacher training allowed my students to excel. I believe my varied experiences and a love for my profession enables me to be a Master Teacher.
