Hands on. Conversational lessons
I have been signing for over 20 years. I am not certified because I chose not to be. I prefer working with adults that are deaf/blind. Im an employment specialist, so i am also skilled in teaching and training people. I love sign and working in this population. My husband is deaf and my children (11 & 6) are signers. I taught my children sign at an early age (starting at 2 months) .This was successful and my children were able to communicate their needs and not become frustrated.

I have experience in tutoring online and in person with various agencies. I have also taught recitation sections of Pre-Calculus and Calculus. In addition, I have experience classifying questions into common core standards. I have planned lessons, created supplementary curriculum, and led review sessions.
I believe in the incorporation of the latest technologies when teaching materials. Critical thinking is a great tool that helps to expand the understanding of concepts, and I seek to assist students not only with answering their current homework questions, but also to succeed with all areas covering the materials in which assistance is being sought. I have been commended for my ability to effectively communicate these concepts.

I currently hold a bachelors degree in communications and a masters degree in Early Childhood/Childhood education. I have worked in various grades which helped give me a broad understanding of the subject matter taught. My experience has helped me adapt my teaching skills to meet the needs of individual students.
I enjoy teaching and working with children. I adapt my lessons and differentiate my instruction to meet the needs of each child. Everyone can learn but in various ways. A Little Bit About Me...

I am a college graduate with a degree in Marketing and 5 years of substitute teaching / tutoring experience. I am currently going back to school to get my Masters in Adolescent Mathematics Education. My experience, whether in college or in teaching, has helped me obtain knowledge of a wide variety of subjects. I specialize in mathematics and business and have helped students in numerous subjects, including the sciences and computer science.
I love teaching and working with children. I have helped many cousins and nieces and nephews with schoolwork or the SATs so I have plenty of tutoring experience in addition to my teaching experience. My goal is to help students meet their educational goals and hopefully get into college and become a great success.

I started around 2005 tutoring for the departments of chemistry and math in Queensborough Community College, from the basic levels in organic chemistry 2 and calculus. I earned my Associate degree in science from Queensborough Community College and finished my Bachelor Degree in Stonybrook University. At Stonybrook University also tutor chemistry and math. During the summer 2006, I had the entire department of chemistry tutoring under my guide. My experience comes from teaching my own classes and from interacting with my students.
My style is open to discussion. I like to ask questions to the student about the knowledge they have and based on that, apply my knowledge to build a strong base to be used as a core to solve more problems. I live the one on one interaction but also love the group discussion. I used to tutor an entire classroom during summer for 6 hours straight.

I chose the field of education because I believe that every child deserves to be educated in a safe, caring, and stimulating environment where they can strive to meet their maximum potential. Every student is capable of learning and succeeding with the right differentiated instruction that meets their individual needs. I believe in a hands on approach to teaching where students are encouraged to discuss their learning process in a classroom that is filled with rich discussions and free of ridicule. Each student that I have worked with has left with greater confidence and a life long love of learning.

A Little Bit About Me...

I would say that all people are capable of learning and improving their abilities, knowledge, and skill. My experience has been that if a child, youth, or adult is given the space in which to learn, and introduced to material in a patient manner, in the style that works for them (be that through explanation or visual learning, etc) they will take the initiative to learn and grow at the pace and direction which works for them. People are naturally inclined to learn and grow, and my experience is that when given the opportunity and supportive role of a teacher, they will become interested in learning and continue to do so.
After graduating from college with a BA, I began working for an environmental restoration and public education program. We led large volunteer groups sometime of more than 100 people, in local park and forest restoration event, and also led youth groups on 10 day r ... read more
