I know firsthand that great teachers make great students. It took several years to discover my learning style because I had to find it on my own. I want to be able to help students find their own learning style. I believe that subjects are best learned when broken down, and repetition is key. I also believe practice makes perfect. I know that a student needs to know the basics first, then can move on to more complex ideas.
In earning my bachelors of science degree at the University of South Carolina Aiken, I gained a true love for biology. I excelled in entry-level biology classes, as well as higher-level science classes such as ecology and evolution. I am also proficient in writing, English, and math. As a North Carolina Teaching Fellow, I tutored elementary through high school students in reading and math as I went through college. I have been teaching 7th grade math and science for the past eight years. The seventh grade curriculum has allowed me to master the misconceptions students have in areas of basic math, algebra, physics, earth, and life sciences.
