I take more of an inquiring approach and I become more of the facilitator and guide and direct my students by asking questions, exploring options, suggesting alternatives, and encouraging them to develop criteria to make informed choices. My Overall goal is to develop in students the capacity for independent action, initiative, and responsibility. A Little Bit About Me...

I never set out to work with children but after I was hired to be a teacher assistant for young children with autism I can’t imagine doing anything else. I am a very patient person and I strive to bring a light hearted, fun approach to working with students. I believe that learning should be educational but at the same time fun and engaging. The biggest rewards for me personally have been the smallest breakthroughs when working with children especially those with special needs.
I have spent the last two years working with elementary age children with autism. Sine high school, I have worked with children in BOCES. However, I started college later in life, after children and marriage. I wanted to provide my children with an education that I couldn't afford since I knew nothing of grants in 1974. I started with my AA and did not stop until I achieved my MS.
