A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style depends on the person I am working with and the subject matter we are exploring. Everyone learns differently and that needs to be respected and appreciated. My goal is to provide an environment that is comfortable and positive, allowing my client to excel and reach their fullest potential.
My entire background revolves around teaching. I taught in a Preschool while I was working on my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. While there I worked with all ages from Infants to the School Age children. After completing my degree I then went to teach in a public school. A Little Bit About Me...

My educational background is in chemistry and chemical engineering. My professional experience is in manufacturing, specifically in the area of specialty chemicals. I enjoyed the fast pace of the manufacturing environment, but have since moved from the Detroit area to the Springfield, MO, area. I am now in the process of obtaining my initial teaching certificate through ABCTE, which is a MO DESE-approved route for initial teaching certification. My goal for tutoring is the same as my goal for teaching: teach the students HOW TO LEARN, and show them how to use these skills to learn the specific subject. As a working professional, I was driven later in life to get a degree that was started right after high school. I initially had 90 course hours towards a Social Work degree, and when I returned changed it to business. I have a BS in Business Management, and I only have one class left to get my Masters(MBA). This has allowed me to have a vast bit of working experience in math and accounting. I have exceptional grammatic skills, due to weekly submitted papers in each class. I am a Special Education teacher by education and by choice. My teaching style is one that can be changed at any time to answer the learning style of a student. I am a hands-on, multiple teaching style person because I know that students do not learn by using just one learning style. If I said that I just had one teaching style, then I would only be teaching to one type of student and that is detrimental to all students. I have been working with elementary children for 19 years. I have expericence as a Title 1 Teacher Assistant, Special Education aide, Substitute teacher and Sunday school teacher. I have tutored in reading and math. I am currently attending Ashford University to complete my Early Childhood degree in 2012. I will then continue to get my degree in Special Education.
I love working with children and feel that is my God given talent. I believe that all children can and will learn with the proper time given to them. All children learn differently.
